Merry Little Christmas

The Reason for the Season- Our Saviour is born!

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

In reference to the way Jesus came to us in a humble way and not quite what we expected, 2023 has had this story line ringing in my ear as I reflect on the events that took place in the last 12 months and how it did not happen at all like I thought it would. I can truly say I have never been so blessed and I only have one person to blame for that….His name is Jesus!

This little light of mine

Last year at this time I was under the impression I was going to be working on a very important project that had so much potential to make a real difference in people’s lives but God had different plans and swiftly moved me into a period of training and isolation followed by a swift meeting of my tribe of other workers of the field. As the year unfolded it became clear to me that the project was much bigger than originally anticipated and many more steps needed to be made before the greater reveal. God gave me a song for the year that rang true through and through as He continued to guide me with grace, all while teaching me new, yet old simple things that I will be needing for the following seasons to come….

“This little light of mine…I’m going to let it shine… Jesus is the light, I’m going to let Him shine.”

He showed me that darkness is a gift as it allows the light to shine that much brighter and to not fear the dark days but rejoice in them. I realize that Paul the apostle talks about this a lot in the Bible but you never really know what He is talking about until you go through it yourself. I have many stories to share that perhaps over a fire I can tell you one day all the ways that God turned horrible situations into blessings, but more than that I want you to know Him like I do and know how great He really is. It’s more than I can explain in words or in this short blog but I hope that you can see it in all the situations in your life that God really does turn the bad things in life to good things for those who love Him. It may be dark days in a lot of ways, yet the light seems even brighter in these times because your eyes draw closer to the light when things are dark.  I spent everyday this year saying Thank you Lord! For He is good!

To sum up 2023 it was what I would consider another rest year of sorts and although I was still learning it was just more flowful and less striving and I spent more time just enjoying the simple things in life that bring the greatest joy. My top favourite times were as follows in no particular order:

  • Learning to play the Uke and spending time with these amazing women.
  • Gardening with likeminded people that understand what’s important now.
  • Learning to make sourdough bread.
  • Getting Baptized with my besties.
  • Letting God take the wheel and just having such a good relaxing time.
  • Taking time to truly rest and take in nature daily.
  • Loving my little church and the amazing people God gave me.
  • Going to church on Sundays and spending the rest of the day with my friends, having deep conversations about the goodness of God.
  • Living in a hut.
  • Escaping the hut.
  • Fires and hikes.
  • Praying with other prayer warriors for our country and standing for the lost and contending for them and the church.
  • Watching God change hearts!
  • Was able to get back to the gym and am completely healed from all my physical injuries… Praise God!

I pray Christmas has a surprise miracle waiting for you! May God bless you as much and more than He’s blessed me. Love you and thank you for always popping in.
