May is the season for planting, which ultimately is the beginning of a new season of growth. We may not see it at first but sometimes disappearing for a while to do the work; be it study, training for a race or competition or just resting while you wait for the seeds already planted to grow is the best thing you can do. We need to always remember there are many seasons in life but there is a time for them all. If it’s a dark season for you by chance, make sure to remember that’s where the most growth happens; in the dirt/dark. That’s where we learn to trust God in the process of where we are headed next.

May Flowers
The very best part of those spring morning runs are the flowers that meet you at your resting spot.
I’m also taking time this month to learn new things, plant new seeds and focus on staying consistent in my training and self care. I hope you do too. I always find the summer gets crazy and there never seems to be time to catch up. Make sure you get outside and take advantage of the better weather and enjoy all the amazing flowers and earlier sunrises. Perfect time to get in a run before the start of the day.

A Time for Everything
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
Ecclesiastes 3 NIV

Top Health tips for May
As we know, everything is connected; our work life, fitness, family, leisure time and of course our food all play a role in our overall health. If one thing is off, everything else will suffer. Doing my own personal inventory this time of year I always focus on making sure I’m getting enough sleep. Recovery is an important part of having the stability and stamina to enjoy all that this season has to offer. I make sure to make room for a well needed rest day and schedule it in as much as the activity days. My days will be getting more vigorous with outdoor activities, markets and farming as well as my usual training regiment. I have also recently started some new supplements that when I have time to share results I will let you know. I know it’s easy to get excited about the latest scientific discoveries but I’m not one to go out and tell you to start taking something unless I or my clients have seen real results. As for food, this is always an ongoing inventory and depends on what is needed for the day or season. Increasing protein has been a focus for myself because I can sometimes get off balance here. Last year at this time I let myself burn on all ends and really gave into temptation more than I’d like to admit but I find that’s all due to a lack of sleep and rest. When we don’t get the rest we need we are always more vulnerable to give in to those higher sugar temptations that in reality will only make you more tired and keep you in the cycle of being tired and unable to perform at your best. That’s why sleep should always be on the top of your health list before training and before diet.
Anyway, I hope you take some time to take your wellbeing inventory and set some intentions with prayer ( because it’s always easier said than done and help from the Father is always best) to achieve a great start to your summer.
Bye for now- Claire
