Sometimes recovery can feel like a destination, a pitstop just to feel better but ultimately recovery is a daily practice. Community- Your people. Who are they and what do they represent? This is a big topic these days and as much as we may want to be inclusive to everyone we simply can’t and because time and focus, and needs are real you will have to decide how you invest your time and energy.
In the present time this subject is more important than ever that we make decisions about this. Not because we shouldn’t love everyone as we are told to do but there is always a consequence here if we are not in alignment. We must move away in times without knowing who will come into our life next but following God means listening to His promoting. Asking yourself regularily about people in your life as well as looking at yourself. Are these people adding to my life- Sometimes we are called to help a person that may not be on the same page as we are for a time. But those people are either on their way up because they are making changes regularly and working on their likeminded goals ( healthy living) or you have been them in your life because God has put them there and you are a caregiver, coach or representation of love but God doen’t call us to just hang around people with the same problems we are trying to overcome. When I first quit drinking years ago I couldn’t just keep handing out with my drinking friends. It was lonly at first but in time God gave me new hobbies and introduced me to a whole new world of opportunities to be surrounded by other people who also didn’t want to drink. I now have parties all the time and no one drinks at all. It’s a progression of alignment and trusting God to provide. He prompts our spirit to separate and then He rewards us with better. Many people get caught in the “it’s going to be lonely or hard” phase before they get to the blessing season. I’ll tell you from experiennce that every lonely and hard season was followed by an amazing season of new beginnings and new opportunities. But it was lonely and hard at the start of each transition.
